Child care providers at licensed facilities are required to complete lead safety training and submit a certificate of completion to their DCFS licensing representative. School leaders are not required to complete training, but we encourage you to learn more about lead safety to help protect children.

LeadCare Illinois offers free lead safety trainings for any interested school leader or child care provider. The trainings will educate you about:

  • Rules and requirements in Illinois
  • The impact of lead exposure in children
  • How to sample your drinking water for lead
  • How to understand the results of your lead-in-water test
  • When to re-test your water
  • How to develop and implement immediate and long-term mitigation plans to reduce lead
  • Opportunities for mitigation reimbursement through LeadCare Illinois
  • Additional resources and support to keep you informed throughout the lead-in-water testing process

Trainings are available through online webinars and are conducted in both Spanish and English.
