LeadCare Illinois has paused processing lead-in-water test kits while we wait for a new round of funding for the program to be released. Sign up for our waiting list, and we will notify you as soon as we resume processing test kits.

LeadCare Illinois empowers child care providers to address lead in drinking water and comply with Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) testing requirements.

LeadCare Illinois offers free lead safety trainings that educate child care providers about lead in water testing rules, the impact of lead exposure in children, how to sample their facility's drinking water for lead, and how to create a mitigation plan. Trainings are available through online webinars and conducted in both Spanish and English.

After completing registration, child care providers receive a free test kit to sample drinking and cooking water sources. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency lab analyzes the samples, and results are shared with providers via email. If lead is present, LeadCare Illinois provides education to help child care providers minimize or reduce the source of lead.
