LeadCare Illinois is here to make lead-in-water testing straightforward and easy. Getting started takes only a few minutes, and your free test kit gives you the information you need to help protect the children in your care. Take the first step toward safer water!
Our Process
LeadCare Illinois makes the testing process easy for child care providers and school leaders. When you enroll in the program for testing, you’ll follow these quick steps.
1. Enroll for Free Testing
Complete the enrollment form to request a free lead-in-water test kit.
2. Receive Your Test Kit
Once your enrollment is confirmed, we’ll ship your test kit along with clear, step-by-step instructions for testing your water.
3. Training
Before you test, sign up for free lead safety training from LeadCare Illinois to learn about the impact of lead exposure and mitigation strategies.
4. Collect Your Water Samples
When your kit arrives, follow the included instructions or watch our short how-to videos, and collect your water samples.
5. Return Your Samples
After collecting your samples and completing the chain of custody form, use the prepaid shipping label to send everything directly to our certified lab.
6. Review Your Test Results
You’ll receive an email from LeadCare Illinois with your results, including whether lead was detected and recommended next steps for reducing exposure.
