Fransy Rodriguez, a suburban Cook County child care provider, discovered her water contained lead after completing required water testing. Unable to safely cook or drink with the water, she relied on bottled water to protect her family and the children in her care.
Fransy enrolled in LeadCare Cook County, where the team discovered her home was connected to a lead service line. The program covered the full cost of replacing the lead and associated work. When asked about why child care providers should enroll, Franzy said “Don’t hesitate to apply, it’s true. It’s good. And the safety for us, who are the providers for the children, it’s the best thing you can do.”
